Please don't thank me but give glory to God

I just want to thank my Lord and Savior for all that he does for Debauche, Haiti. The love of the people and the spirit is strong in this simple country town that you cannot find on any map. Also thank you to all that have supported me in this effort.

God put a strong message on my heart this trip to Haiti and I hope to help others to understand what I mean when I say, "it's not me to be thanked for my efforts". It is hard for many to understand my comment, well who else is doing this Al if not you. Most of the world may never understand what I am about to describe and for this I am truly heart broken. This challenge I describe is pride, a heavy sin for most of us.

While we were attending Sunday service in a simple tent with about 50 others in Pitime, I had a message, that strong feeling deep inside.... "Don't steal my glory". Pitime is where a group of brothers work day and night to support this small group of people in the bush. They offer church and school to the children of the bush, about 100 come everyday and learn under this tent, dirt floor, a few benches, books, and people with a humble hearts to serve the Lord.

"Don't steal my glory", wow it hit me. Pride was leaking into my thoughts and I was stealing the glory of our Creator. If you believe we are living out God's beautiful love story, this makes sense. His world gives us what we need to understand this and learn from it, but we have to invest time with our nose pressed against the pages, on our knees in prayer.

Paul wrote, "Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee would bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Phil 2:5-11

So give the credit to the one who has made all this possible and help me not "steal the glory" that is due totally to my Lord Jesus Christ for saving me and God the Father for his mercy and amazing grace and great love for all of us.

Love from the street mission, Alber

Haiti no-go but Prison ministry begins this week - Pray

I was deeply upset when I received the text from our lead Pastor canceling our mission trip to Debauche, Haiti due to weather last week. The concern was that due to hurricane Katia we would not be able to get out of the country. Well, one week later and the storm did not even get close to the island. Wanted to see our children, Webert and the families of our little church in the middle of Haiti. We were going to get the security wall program started and begin the pastor training for some local church leaders. All will now have to wait. God please grant me the patients, I know you have a plan but sometimes I want to push harder. Show me what you want me to do. Love Sherpa Al

But we are going into the Prison this Thursday for our four day Kairos weekend. I love this ministry that God has led me into. The men are awesome who lead this team into the prison and it is always amazing when God shows up and blows us all away. Life Change on a grand scale is what He delivers. In the darkest places you can see God's light so very clearly.

Pray for us and for the inmates that the power of the God's word of and the love of Christ overtakes the darkness. It is spiritual warfare, I pray for life change for all of us, get radical for Jesus. Listen, Listen, Love, Love

Haiti Mission Trip July 2011 - BHM, Fermathe

My trip to Haiti was amazing and God must have wanted me to make more connections. This trip started about one month before i got on an plane out of MFI in Fort Pierce, FL. I felt i was at a cross roads with my mission activity and the FBJB family was changing some more so I decided not to lean on my own understand as the bible tells us and began a fast and heavy pray, asking for guidance. About 10 days into my fast I contacted Roger Sands at MFI to get information about shipping items to our mission in Debauche Haiti. He told me that he was not the correct contact and referred me to someone else. I remembered that Heater from N Stuart Baptist was working with him so I began to ask about short term mission trips. Roger lit up, he told me about his mission to build over 45 homes for people in Fermathe Haiti that had lost everything in the earthquake. I told him to send me some information and keep me in mind if anything comes up. About 3 PM that same day Roger called me back. Get this, I am praying asking God for direction and Rodger calls me and tells me that one of the team members for his next trip fell off a roof and do I want to go to Haiti next week. WOW, I prayed for Jason who fell off the roof and said yes I would love to go.

The trip showed me another side of Haiti, mountains, green trees, gardens, trees, green, waterfalls, beautiful valleys and awesome people at Baptist Haiti Mission (BHM), was founded in 1943. For more than 60 years, we have strived to serve the whole person through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By partnering with local leaders and generous people like you, our ministries have led tens of thousands to Christ, educated three generations of families, and saved the lives of countless children and adults throughout Haiti. Roger and MFI are the way to travel, 20 miles from Jensen Beach and walk right on the plane, travel with your packages and they go into 3 locations in Haiti.

I was able to work on building 3 homes, block, and the best part was the connections that God must of had in his plan. First was Roger and the MFI team, then 13 members of a small church in NY - young and ready to serve, they were awesome and made me feel like part of their team, God's team. Then Tim, the other new member of the team from Ohio. We stated at BHM, a beautiful well established mission campus. I learned what a well run organization should look like. met with Director and wife, head of children services, education, operations and maintenance, etc. Many lessons learned, i will be emailing and calling them often to help with Debauche advice.

I was some very blessed to see my haitian brother Weber Charles. Was able to bring a few supplies, letters and guitar for the Debauche mission. We got to send several hours talking and updates, Zacarhia nation has one new addition, a little girl. The mission continues to grow, more children, more needs. God I pray you send the labors, we need them badly. Luke 10:2-3

Haiti Mission Trip - Debauche School

I recently returned from a mission trip to Debauche, Haiti to see our school and church. First Baptist Jensen Beach built, supports and operates a mission school in Haiti. The mission began 10 years ago by a single member of our church. While working in Haiti, he found himself in this unlikely part of the countryside, so remote that it is not found on most maps. It is a beautiful valley of rich, dark soil, streams and spirited people surrounded by a ring of massive mountains on all sides, giving the appearance that God reached down and cupped his hands to protect this people from the outside troubles of the world. Through our support, over 400 children in Debauche are getting an education and learning about the love of God.

I pray that our efforts continue to bring glory to God as First Baptist Jensen Beach in Debauche, Haiti help develop disciples and servants of Jesus Christ.

Pray for them, pray for us all.

Amazing Power in the Word of God - back from Prison

Update from Kairos MC#33
(picture from our Nicaragua Mission trip - Prison Prayer)

It was amazing and showed me just how very BIG and Powerful the Gospel is. We met with 36 inmates locked into a single building due to the status of this group, everything from life sentence, murder, thieves, addicts ,rapist, sexual predators, gang leaders ,etc. The darkest people you could possibly meet. Most of them had similar stories, no father growing up, sexual abuse, abandonment, addictions all a very young age. We spent the four days going through a series of talks (from the bible), interactions as small "family" groups and worship. We Listen, Listen and Loved, Loved on them with Agape love. The other common theme for many in this group of men, no one had ever told them about the God of the bible and showed them love with no strings attached.

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the message of God's amazing Mercy and Grace was so very powerful that we began to see "life change" as the Hold Spirit entered the deepest parts, removing fears and pains of several of the men and changed them (from the inside - out). It was on the third day that we began to see more men, talking about their prayers, some for the first time in their life, to God and how He answered them. They are still living in a prison but several now have hope, not of this world but for eternity.

Thank you all for your prayers. I will be back at MCI this weekend teaching men how to gather in small groups to do "Prayer and Share", growing in the word of God and helping others to understand the life changing power of the Gospel. So keep praying...

God's servant, everything for His Glory,

Alberto

Prison Ministry - Kairos MCI#33

To my dearest,

I have a request for you over the next few days. We, 36 men of Kairos MC#33, will be going into Martin County Corrections prison for 4 days starting. We go to bring the Good News and saving power of the Gospel to a people that live and exist in the darkness and isolation of prison. Our Lord and savior has commanded us, "Teach them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matt. 28:20), Jesus tells us in a word, "Go".

Jesus said, "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." (Matt. 25:35-36)

Many will be praying throughout the weekend, that lives will be changed by the powerful word of our almighty God, that the Holy Spirit will be working to take away their heart of stone then replace with hearts filled with Jesus, flowing with living water of the Spirit, filled with light, we pray that our efforts will glorify God in advancing the Gospel.

The Apostle Paul wrote while in prison to the church in Philippi, explaining how God works all things to His plan..."and most of the brothers (in prison), having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear" (Phili 1:14). I pray that many will pray, share, surrender and become bold in the word of God as result of our four days in MCI and bring glory to the risen King of Kings, the name above all names, Jesus Christ.

I also pray for you and your families that your hearts may be filled with the joy and love of knowing the truth.

We will be using the simple Kairos approach....Listen, Listen, Love, Love.

"I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life." (John 5:24)

Love from God's Servant, for His glory,
Alberto
